The farm became a winter wonderland almost overnight. Everything is blanketed and so beautiful.
I had a good weekend, traveling into town and visiting friends, although a horrible tummy ache landed me in the hospital this morning. I'm home now and feeling somewhat better. I hope it was only gastroenteritis and not an unhappy gall bladder (as suggested by the Dr). Either way, my upcoming ultrasound should unveil the problem.
I've always had poor gastrointestinal health. It sucks. Woe to me if I eat the wrong thing. It's a terrible sensitivity to be afflicted with, having to cut out acidic foods, sugars & fats. Plus, I'm lactose intolerant, so I can't enjoy dairy. FYI: I love dairy products. I simply cannot digest them! Therefore, I must eat like a rabbit, or a finch. Bland, boring stuff. I wish I had the vulture guts to digest anything! :P
Kevin has been a good sport about it. He oversees most of what I eat, not that anyone should be tasked with intercepting my dietary indiscretions every time I open my big gob... but it sure is nice to have his eagle-eye on me, to protect me from myself. ;) |

That's what I get for having a heart!
The tiniest orphaned kitten was brought to us today. It's merely 1-2 days old and utterly precious in a sort of alien-baby kind of way... considering that's precisely what it looks like: alien spawn.
So I get to wake every 2 hours to bottle-feed this orphan, then stimulate its abdomen so that it might pee... since new kittens can't accomplish that sort of thing on their own at this delicate stage.
I'm confident it will survive the night, but just to be sure... send optimistic thoughts our way! :) |

I'm exiting the nest that is my veterinary job and relocating to central Alberta this June. I'm moving in with my Straight Shooter, onto 160 acres of gorgeous prairie. I am thrilled to finally have the privilege of admiring my horses from the coziness of my new home - everyday. Rook is free to frolic the acreage with his Border Collie comrad, while I patiently await the arrival of my new, fat, rolly, wrinkly, cute, Oklahoma-born Bluetick Coonhound puppy! She'll be here in three weeks. :) Haven't decided on a name yet. Suggestions?
I'll be revamping www.jennaferreira.com this summer - just as soon as I've settled in and established a routine. <3

Here I am, sitting with all the tranquility an aggravated gal can muster, wiggling freshly painted toes as I type you an update from the disaster zone that is my condo. Can you believe that it suffered extensive water damage (thanks to the Retard living above me) back in January and has only just begun undergoing renovations? Seriously. It's taken them this long, and I'm told it will be another week until they're done. Shed a tear for me, please. Fortunately, I haven't been trapped here.
Catastrophe Chez Panny aside, I've wholeheartedly embraced ruralism and spend all of my free time in Alberta's rolling backwoods with my D80 & my ever-pleasing horses. Life has continued to be A+. |
